Bad Knee Pain
Yesterday, I woke up with some pain in my left knee. It wasn't super-bad, but as the day went on it got worse and worse and by evening, it was really bad. I think I must have subluxated my knee in my sleep, and then something got pinched, so I walked around on it all day aggravating it.

I could not sleep a wink last night. The pain was so bad that even when I got sleepy, I couldn't sleep, and then I moved on into re-awakeness. Two tramadol and two advil didn't make a dent. B woke up in the early morning and suggested that I put a pillow under the joint, which I did, and that helped me to relax the leg without worrying it would hyperextend. (I was sitting in bed reading next to him while he slept, so I was having to be attentive to the knee's position and stuff.)

I got up a little later to have a drink of water and when I was in the kitchen, I continued flexing and moving the knee around to try to relieve the pain. Suddenly I heard and felt a loud SNICK sound and felt my kneecap slide across the joint and back into place. Holy shit. My kneecap had been way, way out of alignment.

A few hours after that, the pain started to subside. At that point I felt awake and didn't want to fall asleep because I knew my sleep schedule would be screwed. But after breakfast I got very sleepy and knew I had to give in. B was working from home, so I snuggled up next to him on the couch and went to sleep. The cats were DELIGHTED at this turn of events; Opal alternated between snuggling in the crook of my knee, and perching above me on the sofa back cushion. Serena snuggled up to my chest (and occasionally, patted me on the boob to get me to pet her, which is adorable though not conducive to sleep.) I woke up a few times off and on during the afternoon to find the kitties and B still snuggled with me, and finally woke up for good at 6pm.

The knee still feels painful, but not overwhelmingly so, and it's very stiff.

Now again my sleep schedule is totally screwed :/

I sleep with a pillow under my knees to keep them flexed -- and I had to break my habit of curling up on the couch with my legs bent to the side. Otherwise, the same thing happens to me, with additional hip involvement.

I'm sorry about your sleep. I sympathize :(

I usually sleep on my side, because between the knees and the boobs back-sleeping is uncomfortable. But I think I need to go ahead and invest in a bolster just for those times I need to be on my back (I can add it to the growing pile of conditional pillows on my side of the bed, heh.)

I do tend to curl up with my legs bent, but I am trying to stop. I've definitely noticed that it wonks my knees. Getting a chaise helped for sure.

*hugs* to you and I hope that your tummy bug clears up very fast!

Also I sent you an email the other day, have you had a chance to look at it?
